Well, mare has been turned out for approx 2 weeks now, at first she was a bit unsettled and calling to the others in the next penned off section, so after a few days i put the little one in with her, shes much much happier now she has a friend. He is very much still a baby (does his mouthing when she is near he is 14 months) and they get on lovely now, always grooming each other and grazing nose to nose. I keep catching her licking him alot and nuzzling him?! never seen another horse lick another like she does. Occasionally if he gets out of line she will pull a face and grab his skin with her teeth to warn him away, but 9/10 they are both good together.
So pleased she has settled
just though i'd share
PS anyone know what the licking is about?!?
