Before I start this update, I know I am going to get jumped on for not calling the vet sooner, because I left him and self treated. I would like to point out that not only was I away, but the horse is sound (even the vet was surprised considering what he has done) and not only I
but four other experts (who were looking after him whilst I was away) , with over 150 years experience between them thought the same. These are people whose horses have gone to HOYS and jumped in senior classes, as well as flat racing, so they have seen a lot.
I had the vet out to Buster on Friday. He spent an hour on the ultrasound machine scanning his leg. Noticed some inflammation of the deep flexor tendon, as well as ligament and soft tissue damage however not as serious as he thought it would be considering. Towards the end of the scan he noticed some sort of abnormality to the surrounding tissue.
X rays have shown that not only has my poor baby horse done his tendon, but he also has taken quite a hefty chip out of his hock joint.
This has resulted in 3 months box rest and a further 12 months in the field.
