Once was lost

I posted this thread at the end of August http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=479901 asking the question if it was too cheeky to ask people if I could ride their horse or if they knew of anyone needing a rider.
Everyone was very encouraging and in the end I did ask my friend although at that time there was nothing the knew of other then maybe her Mums hacking mere however now, a few months on things have paid off!
My friends mere who has been turned away with an injury is ready to start coming back to work in January and my friend was lamenting about how she wasn't sure how she was going to find time to keep two horses going she paused for a second and then asked if I would consider riding her mere for her! I have jumped at the chance, she is a fabulous horse so come January the long process of bringing her back to work and keeping the fingers crossed that the injury is all healed (was only a mild injury, she has had a year in the field to be on the safe side and has been sound in the field for at least 6 months so very promising a full return to work will be successful) so while still feeling on a high about this I was stopped in the village by somebody who had been told about me on the horsey grapevine (as I am starting up as a freelance groom) and asked me if I would consider riding her sons 16.2 eventing TB as he is going into exam year at school and doesn't have enough time to do the horse justice. Along with riding on this one comes some paid groom work as well, will take some juggling as they keep at a small livery in the next village over but it is doable for me a couple of times a week so once school is back in the new year I will be going over to try this horse!
I wanted to thank everyone who gave me the confidence to ask, I know I am competent and knowledgeable with horses but I do always feel uncomfortable selling myself as it feels like bragging, I am getting better with that though.
I am also bringing on a very green 5 year old pony for my friend, a great project with a great pony, pay off being that my daughter has been told to think of the pony as her own so my little girl is getting the joy of her own pony and making me proud (she asked for all things for her pony when writing to Father Christmas bless her!).
Funny how much things can move on in a few months, if you guys hadn't given me the confidence to tell my friend I was after riding I doubt I would be getting ready to have two rides in the new year!
