Well I promised an update - and I'm happy to say it is a positive one.

We have had a walk where we met up outside my house with everyone calm. We then went for a stroll on the common with my 2 off lead as usual and Fudge on a long line for the first 15 minutes. When there were no other dogs around and everyone seemed calm we let her off. She was excellent though Ruby obviously remembered the previous issues as she was quite submissive and stayed away from Fudge at first. There was one incident of "herding" of Ruby by Fudge - this was stopped immediately and Fudge put on lead. She was allowed off again when she was calm and it did not happen again.

We went back to my house after an hour. Fudge waited outside with my daughter until my two were in toweled off and quiet. Fudge came in and had her usual rub down and treat as well. They then all settled quietly in the lounge though Fudge was not allowed up on the sofa where Ruby was - she was allowed on the other sofa. She was clearly a little concerned about her change of status but seemed to accept it. We will continue with this routine and very close monitoring of all of them in future but at least we know my daughter can visit our house and bring her dog as always and we can get together for walks.

Doors, gates etc will be very strictly managed and I am sure we can do this :)
Thank you so much everyone for your advice and help.

Excellent to read such a positive update. I really hope the effort you are all putting in continues to impress on Fudge that Ruby is not to be bullied, especially in her own home lol!
Dogs don’t think of it as bullying, although it’s upsetting to us to them it’s all about pack dynamics. (In my probably very old fashioned opinion!).
I’m only saying that as Fudge isn’t being unpleasant, in her eyes, she’s just being a dog.

Exactly!
That is why the dog isn't allowed to be in charge - it's the humans' job. Great news, OP!

Yes PaS and Clodagh we were so shocked as Fudge is a "nice" dog. All our dogs are nice :) They had all been such good companions with each other so this was unexpected.

I think we will be ok though as the "management" is working and we will continue to manage them - lessons learned! They will not be left unsupervised but I think we can still do family time with dogs. Fudge seemed a bit confused at the turn of events but also seemed to accept things. It has made us all reassess our training anyway as we had all got a bit lax and the dogs were perhaps not quite as well behaved as they used to be. Small dogs - it is so easy to allow them to become a bit "above themselves" - we all needed a bit of a sharpen up!
So everyone is happy and the households are peaceful :)

Thanks again everyone!
