Hi. My horse had a injury 9th December whilst out hunting, he fractured his splint bone (hind) my vet removed the lower part, as of today he is healing well, just so worried about his future as he is my world, he is competing advanced medium, any suggestions on the prognosis ?

Well my vet said it should heal really well and hopefully cause no further problems, hopefully its the same for your horse, its a real worry though isnt it? Bl@@dy horses eh? My mare is 28 and is a retired princess so its a bit different for me, but i do hope yours comes back sound, did the vet say how long off work?

My horse fractured a front splint bone a year ago - he had the lower bit and the splinters surgically removed and after a few weeks of box rest and slow return to work he's never had a problem

. Vet said he sees a lot of them and they do heal ok most of the time.
