Hi,

Thanks for all your advice in my last post. I had the farrier out to see her this morning, as she trotted up lame again. He took both front shoes off, checked for an absess, and then put them back on with shorter nails. We then trotted her again and it looked as though the first 3 strides were sound, but then she was lame again.

Left her in all day, and took her out at 5pm and still lame. Had another examination and have now found the tiniest bit of heat on the inside of her front fetlock, so could be this causing the problem. My instructor is hoping that she has just twisted her ankle, although im not convinced as think she would have been consistently lame.

She is bearing weight on it.

NOt sure to leave her in another few days or turn her ouyt, as she isnt silly in the field and just wanders.

What would you do??

I would now be getting the vet out to do some nerve blocks and ascertain where the lameness is located. It could make all the difference to how you manage it.

Hi
I would speak to the farrier again and then take it from there farriers can be really friendly and we have spent four years training so there is a chance that we may solve the problem before you need a vet! Plus we are cheaper!!!!!
