After leaving a post last week about a spinning naughty horse, we decided to tackle it end of last week. I rode out with someone confident on foot to give advice and yes he acted up but i rode through it, used deeper voice, shortened reins and turned him etc. Seems he knew to do it when i relaxed a bit and was chatting, no more of that! He even planted his feet a couple of times, a new one for him.

We got round the block and returned very sweaty and just a bit worked up but i'm hoping ive got it out of him and can go back to enjoying hacking. I won't hold my breath mind! Also seems it ties in with starting to be fed, so sorting that out, plus the possibility of oats in the straw in communal barn.

Bad weather means we haven't been out since so now i'm nervous to go again but will try today, see what happens....*crosses everything!*

Good luck. Just be aware that it may take a few more rides til you feel confident that he won't try it on. Sounds like you are on the right path though! :)

Well done :D

When I get to the Oh Nervous! stage, which has happened once or twice, I tell myself that I'll just get on and walk round the school/down the lane; I have no more expectations on me and the Dizz than that. Each time I have been comfortable enough to take it a little further, but even if I didn't, I had met my goal so was happy and confidence returned pretty quickly.

I hope the next ride goes as well for you :D

Thats a good idea, riding round the field, or down the lane and back i much better than pushing it and going back to square one and like you said a goal will be met not ruined. now the weather is putting a hold on it all but we will get there!
