Well it will be six weeks on Tuesday. We didn't quite make the full box rest and had to turn out 10 days early with sedation as it was just getting too dangerous; she's now a much happier horse.

Vet came out yesterday and was really impressed with how her movement has improved in such a short time; physio comes out for first visit next Tuesday so set a rehab program for me.

So anyway, decided this morning as officially box rest ends next Tuesday, it was time to start the pessoa work. So with trepedation I went to the stables this morning; popped her 2mls of sedalin in (ok so I'm a cheat, anything to help) I bring her out, groom her down ready and then approach with the roller (gulp!!). Her initially reaction was one of OMG somethings going on my back, but nothing to how she had been before the op, and quickly made the decision it didn't hurt and would stand stock still. When it came to doing it up she just stood there, didn't even blow up like normal. Anyway the fitting of the pessoa went fine, didn't fasten it overly tight as felt it was best to do that over a period of time. Then we took our first steps. I was thinking well if we can get to the bottom of the lane and back without incident i'll be really happy (about 400 yards) we infact managed, according to my pedometer 1.2 miles in a perfect outline, no funny business, no tail swishing or head tossing - nothing (although the sedative probably did help in this process). I have noticed this in Honey before and I think she really likes the wrapped up feeling of security that the pessoa seems to give her. Anyway to say the least I am very proud of her achievement today and have come home with a spring in my step and a smile on my face.

That is absolutely fantastic news, good on you. Please just try not to run to fast though, you have come so far, it would be a shame to spoil all your hard work and determination. Just to let you know that we had a new horse come to our yard last week to be sold and that has had a ks op by svend and is doing really well. Onwards and upwards to all our ks horses, good luck!!! xx

He He thanks folks. I know what you mean Caritas about not running b4 we can walk (literally); but Honey and I seem to have quite a good understanding. She is very quick to let me know when something is getting just that little bit too much for her and luckly because we seem quite in tune with each I am not too bad at picking up her language fairly quickly. At the moment I'm taking my lead from her and doing what she feels comfortable with, but I do insist in her doing it well; quality rather than quantity every time.

I think that will be my new logo as well "onwards and upwards to all our ks horses; for they are jolly good fellows!!!" Horray
