I rode him this morning (mostly in the dark!) so couldn't see much but he seemed happier and slightly lame but nothing too drastic. He didn't do the bunny hop at all today and we trotted up 2 steep hills so that's good.

I think I'm going to have to accept the fact that he will have lame days and bunny hop days but he is an old codger and no spring chicken. What with his arthritis, old tendon injury and spavin in his hocks he's going to be rather achy. He can have bute to ease the load a bit - I don't worry about that like I would a young horse. The vet has said to just get on with it and stop worrying so much. If he goes hopping lame then we'll deal with it. He also reminded me that days hunting take a lot out of a horse - more than we think - and because he had such a long time off recovering from his tendon and everything seized up, it will take longer for him to recover.

All either of us want to do is go hunting and with his blood up he is 100% fine. He isn't the kind of horse who wants to go plodding round the lanes and although we have to do that exercising I have to give him something that will keep him happy which is hunting.

Although god knows what our brakes will be like if he's on bute...!!!
