Hi All
I thought I would post this as it may assist any others who have had the same experiences as I have.
Having had a bad year of claims and serious injury to my horse - who barely survived the last injury.
I then searched high and low and took advice re dropping insurance value to zero.
I was declined insurance by KBIS
Towergate never replied to me
Bargate Holroyd never replied to me
SEIB declined
NFU asked for a five stage vetting before considering cover for her even as a field companion!

I just wanted to let you know of the experiences of these companies and to say that Pet Plan were brilliant and understanding and took the time to listen to what had happened.

If it were not for them, what would I do? It almost makes you feel, is it worth trying to save an animals life or treat a moderate to major injury if you cannot get cover from these "reputable" insurers.

TBH I'm not surprised that any company declined you as it's not as if your horse is a good investment for them whether it's your/his fault or not, they're not to know that are they. You've had a run of bad luck which could happen to anyone but if you're not staying with your old company I don't see how you can blame other companies for not taking you on when it seems you might be more liability than worth.
Bare in mind that even if one out of a hundred other customers had the same sort of serious claims as you, it's easy to see why the company said $od it to having horse insurance on their list.

Glad you found a company to help you. I have both of mine with Petplan and can't fault them. They are being slow at the moment with a claim, but I know it will get sorted - it's mainly my vet who has caused problems by not signing the form and filling his part in properly! So I have had to chase my vet up all the time for something that he needs to have done!
