Update on 'is she lame?'...

Took Muppet to the vets today, she is sound on the straight and on a soft circle, but is lame on her fractured foot on a hard circle, 1/10th. She was x rayed and there was no change from the last one in May, you can still see the fracture which hasn't quite healed and the vet thinks that it is as far as it is going to. He doesn't think that we should stop doing what we are doing, just be careful of the ground, ie minimal trotting, cantering etc on hard ground, preferably only on soft grass or surface. She has also got to have pads on. There isn't any point medicating as the fracture is not in a joint, it is on the wing of the pedal bone.

So, not disasterous, but I really was hoping that I was mistaken and that she was sound. Just keeping fingers crossed that she doesn't get any worse.

Well at least you know and you can do something to help her.
Most people avoid hammering along on really hard ground anyway.
You may find the pads make her completely sound - they used to help our lad who had thin sensitive soles and got concussion to his pedal bones easily - he moved much more comfortably with them.
She looked happy in the test - did the judge pick up on it at all? I am surprised how often they miss a lame horse.

Global herbs do a product called strong bone that might help with right nutrients to heal her fracture.If she is missing something in her diet it could help.Just a idea dont know if it will work.
