Hi there. Thought I'd give everyone a quick update. I had the vet back out today and after 3 weeks of bute and pessoa exercise Honey has showed a very slight improvement in her trot, but her canter is still very bad to the point of becoming disunited and is still showing a lot of discomfort in her back and lame behind. The good news is that my vet is more than happy to refer her to Willesley and infact did his training with Zvend so knows him well and is very positive about it and the work Zvend does. Bad news is my insurance appears to be trying to wriggle out of their side so may take a few weeks before I know for sure whether I'll be able to make the referral. I'll keep you posted when I know more. In the meantime my girls having a great time just being a tummy on legs.

Yeah again, best of luck. Svend is a great man for the job, what insurance company are you with? I am with NFU and they paid out no probs. Why not tell them that the horse is suffering and you need there go ahead before he can be transfered to the other clinic. At the end of the day, what do we pay insurance for? Hopefully they with then give you an answer asap, thinking of you and do keep us posted.

Hi folks thanks for your support. My vet reckons my insurance company is one of the more awkward ones to deal with, but don't think it's appropriate for me to name them on the site (yet). They've asked the vet to supply some more information/history and it will take him a week to gather this info and get it to them; so I'll give them 10 days and then start putting my foot down. Hopefully that will do the trick, my vet is very much behind me on this.

My boy had KS surgery back in Dec and is doing well, he's off to be rebacked in June. There are highs and lows in the recovery and it all takes time, I prey that your insurance agree to the claim as its made such a difference to Wills and for the first time in his life he's fat, relaxed and can canter with his legs doing what there were designed for, not all over the place!
Good luck

Cantering disunited behind and showing discomfort in the hind end resulting in unlevelness or lameness behind could also be EPSM. High flying diagnostic testing can sometimes make fools of us all and I say this with the greatest respect to your vet. It's just that we want to actually see what is causing a problem. I'm probably not explaining myself very well but for instance my horse had numerous x-ray and scintigraphy scans and was disagnosed with bad bone spavin and sacroilliac injury. These conditions definitely showed up on the scan and x-rays - that cannot be denied. But they were not symptomatic and it was the EPSM (which can often fly under the diagnostic radar) which was causing my horse's canter problems, bucking, soreness and rear end lameness, etc.

Just thought I'd mention it as EPSM and kissing spines can share the same symptoms.

Good luck with the insurance company. It's not Equine and Livestock is it?

Keeping fingers crossed.

Hi there good guess on the Insurance I'd say you just about hit the nail on the head. I'm still waiting for them to stop messing around and have decided that I'll be informing them tomorrow that I'm ringing Willesley for a referral date and fight it out with them afterwards; I just don't think it's fair for her to just wait in a field while they decide whether or not they're going to do anything like some broken down or damaged car!!

Oh could Lottie 7 please give me some more info on EPSM I've never heard of that; don't know anything about it at all.

Thks

Have only just come in on this one. Just to say that my daughters horse had the op at Christmas and she is now very much recovered and even jumped a course of jumps a week ago! She had excellent after care on a treadmill and lots of excersises. But she is now a very much more relaxed horse with a more flowing movement and is just a much happier "person". Good luck with it all. Look kforward to the updates!
