Hi everyone,
I just thought id update you on Holly the lab, and introduce you to her properly now i am calmer!!
For those who dont know...
Holly is a 11 year old lab, who now lives with my father in spain, keeping him company as he lives alone.
She is a very fit and healthy 11 year old and goes for runs 3-4 times a week, along with playing in the garden, and swimming in the pool (ie living the life of luxury!!!)
On saturday, she went out for a run as normal, then in the evening she was unable to stand, her back end had completely gone! :( Cue panic!
However, over the weekend she recovered, and on monday vets xrayed and said it was arthritis kicking in. She has been given rimadyl.

Anyway i thought youd all like to a face to the post, here is Holly. She is an extremely special dog, and we have been through alot together!

She is gorgeous! I am so glad she is feeling better.

Would it be worth getting a second opinion? It sounds a bit odd to me to diagnose arthritis from a paralysis episode, although of course I am not a vet!

I've had several lurchers which have had what appeared to be paralysis, but in reality was a spinal issue, the pain of movement preventing them from getting up from their beds. The spinal problems to date (and touch wood), have always been cured by either stretching them across my own chest (difficult to describe accurately), or the attention of a McTimmoney practitioner friend of mine, who's a genius! The careful and experienced manipulation of an experienced back specialist (osteopath-ish), can often work wonders. It might be worth a try.

Alec.

PS, she looks very well for 11. a.
