I am so pleased to read this Birker :)
It sounds like a very similar set up to where my SIL placed her horse in Devon except the herds were more divided by size. Her horse had a fantastic life there until he was almost 30.
I admit I was uncomfortable with your frst choice of the blood bank because I knew somebody who did this and the horse was initially ok with it's life but something changed and he was moved on /sold and there was nothing she could do.
I hope when the time is right that you find a wonderful new friend

Well done.Yes it is lovely to see them together living their best lives isn't it?
Yes it was lovely. I felt a bit overwhelmed by it all if I'm honest, it brought a tear to my eye to see all these much loved horses unable to be ridden for whatever reason.

When we stood around them all on the hardstanding watching them it felt a bit surreal and I felt a little vulnerable surrounded on all sides by horses I didn't know who came over to say hello, but they were golden. None of them were bargy or pushy, they all knew their place in the pecking order and were happy and content.

That is excellent news, well done you for looking after that lovely horse so well xx
Thank you for all your specialist knowledge of Lari too. Its been nice to talk through the ups and downs with you as someone who used to know him and his cheeky ways.

THe lady was saying about the fact she spends more time in the summer searching for fly masks in hedges and in the grass than anything else as they will often pull them off each others face, and I thought 'that's my boy' , wait till she sees him take one off and then slap the other horse around the face with it :D;)

So pleased for you and your lovely boy, he is lucky that you were the one to buy him even though is has been a rollercoaster for you. My friends horse is at a retirement place and the horses and ponies all seem very happy. I’m sure he will love it

Thank you. It scares me how many dodgy sellers there are out there, I'm just hoping I'm luckier next time round.

Thank you everyone for your kind words.
Take someone with you, get them to ride, you ride and the owner ride, make doubly sure before money changing hands and we are all crossing fingers for you ♥️

Sounds perfect Birker. Our retired horses are close enough to visit regularly and it’s lovely seeing how happy they are living out and just being horses.

Yes its lovely to have so many genuine and kind-hearted people take time to respond.
Its also extremely telling in respect to those that haven't commented or taken time to like.
Not one person can ever deny you haven’t done everything you possibly can for the lovely Lari! You deserve to have a horse to ride without any worry. Lari is so lucky to have you ♥️

Aw thank you, that's kind.

I'm hoping before the year is out I'll be back out competing but I'll settle for a hack down the lane and back to be honest. Oh and the small matter of getting another job first to pay for another horse :D
