As you know Romi is near 4 and half months old now, as a previous post stated she was never really spending time with her mummy (Mae). Today really showed me how much she relies on her mum lol.
Brought mae in to ride her, romi followed a fair distance behind, not really wanting to leave the field. Got mae into the stable and tried to get romi to go in too, however she had other ideas, galloped off down the lane and jumped right over the electric fencing into the field with the horses! After running about for a short while she settled down to munch some grass then played with the other foal.
Rode mae, had a clear view of the field. Mae called a few times for her and then just gave up. Romi was too interested in playing with the other horses that she didnt even respond. Continued on riding mae for about 20 minutes (she isnt the fittest lol) and brought her back into the stable to give her a wee groom. Mare and foal must have been separated for well over an hour, neither were stressed infact Mae seemed to enjoy the 1 on 1 attention.
Put her back out again and she went over to her friends, neither made an attempt to go see the other, sat talking to YO in his house (you see all the field from his living room), was in for at least 2 hours and neither went near the other. Romi spent her whole time with Jacada and Mia (other mare and foal), while mae stood with the bigger horses munching grass.
Checked her elder and there seems to be very little milk left.
