unfortunately the only update is that he has not been found yet. My husband finally found one sympathetic Major somehow related to the range at Lydd, they had all their troops sweeping the entire range twice today but to no avail. We are still searching, we emailed "South East Today", my husband was on Kent radio, we tried the RSPCA who said we needed to contact the police first, we contacted the police who said we need to call the RSPCA. The support from "civillians" has been fantastic, the support from the so called emergency services not so good. We understood that with the weather the way it is they would be under pressure but they provided no help at all. Saying that the coastguard has also been very helpful but also says that the horse hasn't been seen. It is beginning to look less hopeful, we don't know where he could be so if anyone does hear or see anything please let us know. Thanks. And thank you again for your help and support.

PS, for those that asked the question, the rider was physically unhurt.

My I sugest that you report it to the police and get an incident number from them so that you can then report it to Horsewatch. Horsewatch will then circulate it to all their horse watch representatives. A photo and details of Freezemark and Microchip number would also assist.

For all those who suggest riding through the land and taking another horse on there,we are talking military ground with live ammo on it.There is no way the military would give permission for that.
Swallowsoast when you hear back from the bbc get their reporter to speak to the RSPCA.You will be amazed at how quickly they will want to help once they know there is press involvement. The police should be providing more help to you. They should at least be patrolling the area at night and searching around the outskirting areas of the camp.

hi, just joined the forum, after reading your post, as i live in lydd and work at the army camp. i also have horses in lydd. I did not hear the story of the missing horse until monday morning and immediatley phoned the camp as it is where i work. I just wanted to let you know that everyone at the camp is keeping a look out, but as yet no signs, i have driven all around the places i can think off and still no sign, i am amazed that he hasnt turned up at my yard as they tend to sense other horses and mine are kept right next to the camp. will let you know if i see or hear anything.

I'm surprised they haven't swept the area with one of those infra red imagery things from the air. They show up heat from people. I wonder if he's been picked up. Can you get directly onto the range from the beach - ie no fencing

you could if you wanted to, but you may get shoot at, they are firing out there day and night, plus i been told by a few people, even when they are not out on the range, it is a dangerous place to be, with all the bunkers and deep lakes, and when the horse went missing, all the lakes would of been frozen other and hidden by the snow, so unless you know the grounds it is to dangerous

that poor horse. I hope you get some news soon. It is disgusting how little help you have had from the military. No wonder they can't find Osama when they can't find a horse in their own 'back yard'.

he is not my horse, but i have seen the ranges and trust me there are a lot of hazards out there, I can see why the army are so funny about people going on them, i would hate one of my horses or dogs to end on the range anytime of year, just wish the weather was not as bad as it was when the horse went out there, as he would of seen the lakes etc,
but if someone does have him, i think they are the most evil people or person around, as the owner the trainer and all the people trying to help find him are worried about him,
and also if someone has got him your wasting a lot of police, coast guard, army and any other emergency services time, which you may need one day, so if you do have him or know who has him get in contact with the owner or the police,
