She has been back to the vets again and had xrays done. Chest xray normal, abdominal xray normal, urine normal. The vet says he has done everything he can and still has no idea as to what is causing her weight loss. We have now been referred to Davis veterinary specialists which he says is part of the Cambridge vets hospital. I was supposed to have taken her there today, as it is so expensive the vet said it was only affordable to people who have insurance and they would claim direct to the company. Well last night while looking on their website for directions I looked at FAQ and it mentioned payment must be paid in full on the day so a quick call to them this morning confirmed that although I had insurance I would need to pay myself on the day and that it would be about £1500, consultation fee alone is £186.06. After contacting them again they have informed me that as they go through each procedure they will tell me the cost and that I can stop at any time so the appointment has now been arranged for Monday in the hope I can raise the money. I have no choice but to take her as it is my only way of getting the problem diagnosed and I can,t just ignore it as she is still getting thinner.

Wonder if it is some kind of intolerane/pancreatic problem....then again your vets would have picked this up in bloods I presume.

BEST OF LUCK to u and your doggi fingers xxxxxx

Maybe if you show your insurance documents they will allow you to claim direct? Depending on who you are insured with you could also try to pre authorise your claim. whatever happens, i hope the vets gat to the bottom of this and rotti gets better soon

The vet has said that she doesn,t have cancer. He said that they will put an endoscope down her to have a look but I am thinking along the same lines as you Cala, it would make sense.

My insurance has already authorised the claim and I have spoken to Davis Veterinary Specialists but it doesn,t matter wether I take my insurance certificate with me or not, I also suggested that they speak to my insurance direct but they won,t do it any other way than for the customer to pay on the day, the reason being that in the past people said that they had insurance when they didn,t and so they lost out.
