Just had to share with you all the hack I had at the weekend :p

My OH is always going on about how easy horse riding is and how he used to be a champion jockey and won the grand national on Redrum  He has been on a diet and lost quite abit of weight so I desided to let him have a ride on Merryn. Not a little sit in the school on the leadrein but a hack on the forest. He could ride Merryn while I rode Herbie :) .
He got on and off we set. It wasn't going to bad (Merryn was just following Herbs ;) ) untill we got to the cattle grid. I opened the gate and let Merryn through and said to my OH he will need to wait for me to shut the gate as Herbs won't like it if he walks off. He walked Merryn through the gate and Merryn kept walking :? I shouted for him to stop but OH did nothing  Merryn just walked upto the nearest hedge and started eating  I closed the gate and caught up with them. When I asked OH why he didn't stop he said " I did" " I just thought it would be nice to let Merryn have a snack, I asked him to walk over to the hedge" :p We carried on round the hack with Merryn just following Herbie (But also grabbing a snack every 5 seconds) We started heading for home when I could hear my OH going "Come on" behind me. I turned round and he had pulled Merryn back and was kicking him.
"Do you want to have a trot?" I asked
"Yes, how do you make him go?" My OH askes
I got Herbs to jog on and shouted "Trot on Merryn"
Merryn started to trot, Suddenly my OH started shouting "How do you stop" and waving his arms around. Poor Merryn didn't know what was going on and started to canter. My OH started to panic and waved his arms round even more  By this time I was in fits of laughter and just couldn't tell him to pull the reins. :p
I knew I didn't have to panic because as soon as Merryn caught up with Herbs he stopped and dived into the bracken for yet another snack  :p :D
I realy realy wish I had had my camera on me as it was sooooooo funny. Ofcause OH is going round telling everyone Merryn took off in gallop and wouldn't stop. When all he actualy did was about 4 strides of canter
Merryn is such a dude. We continued home without any more trouble.

As for Herbie. I'm trying to find ways to relieve his bordom. I bought him a licket and tied the holder to his fence. I turned him out and he started licking it. I went back to the yard and got Merryn, Put him out in his paddock looked over at Herbie and the licket was gone  I wasn't gone for more than 5mins and he had scoffed the lot   I've told him he's not having one every day. So now i'm gonna have to think of something else to try that will last alittle longer   Think under 5mins must be some kind of world record. It's hung loose on the fence so he can't pin it on anything

Thanks for reading. Hope everyone is having fun with there horses. Choc cake if you read to the end :D xx

Brill, my OH rode King once. He has much stronger legs then me, so when OH asked for walk, King did trot, Oh then gripped with this legs..... so King took of cantering a cross a 8 acre field!!! With me shouting sit up relax, and think I'm dead he'll kill me for that :D

OH is used to a motorbike so has quite good ballance, he said "at first I really didn't like it, but after half the filed I thought well I've got this far and have not fallen so I relaxed and LOVED it!!!" So I got away with it and so did King. :)

King can also eat a lickit in under 5 mintues, I have hung it from the middle of the stable, he some how balance's it on his nose and pushes it to the bars over the window so he can bite it. Bite's it in half then eat's it from of the floor!!!!!

I love your ponies and wish you lived near me!!!

Haha I'm in fits of laughter after reading about your oh!! :p

I had a friend come and ride my pony once and I forgot to tighten the girth (I always forget but my saddle never slips) she asked for trot and slipped round his tummy.

Likit consumption is the bane of my life. Mine has one hanging from the rafters in his stable. I watched him destroy it the other day. He grabbed it in his mouth, cracked it in half and it was gone in the space of 2 mins! Have now tied it higher so he cannot clamp his jaw on it but does have to lick it-it drives him crackers and keeps him amused for hours now!!

Thanks guys.

justjoules Lucy used to eat lickets very fast aswell. she used to balance them on her nose then roll them down into her mouth and bite them in half.

picolenicole after the hack i've just had on Herbie ( I realy don't know how I made it back alive :o ) I'll post him to you :p ;) :D Mind you it wasn't his fault entirely, Half way round it did start heaving down with rain and thundering

muddygreymare I'll have a photo shoot soon when it's not pouring down with rain. :D and I did have a treat ball but I lent it to someone and they havn't given it back  Gonna chase it up.

Kokopelli your poor friend. Hope she can laugh about it now. I'm probably in lots of trouble for this post if my OH finds out :p :D

I was thinking about getting him one of those toung twister licket things. For the little lickets and attaching it to his fence. Does anyone know if they are any good and if they'll last him any longer.

Lol at your oh!!!

Tbh I wouldn't bother with lickits at all, you are just giving him a mega sugar rush, sounds like with his antiks he could do without it! How about a himalayan salt lick if you want him to have acess to something, the rockies paddock licks are good too as they are just salt with some minerals. I would go with a treat ball, keep that brain occupied! If you want him to have nibbles too you could use a swede instead of a lick?

Ha love it :D:D Before you know it he will be telling every one he galloped through the forest on a crazed horse that wouldnt stop  :D

ThePony thanks He had one of those salt licks already. Think I'll get my treat ball back although I don't think the lickets are affecting his behavour he's still known as the horrid one most of the time even before the lickets. ;) :p :D

dafthoss oh you've met my OH have you ;) :p :D :D

ha ha sounds like your OH had fun :D
i convinced my best mate (my height and age but weighs 7stone nothing, probably never even stroked a pony before) to ride the horse i'm schooling-she's dead safe-and when she got up there she was like 'ohh gooodd!' and tense. after a few minutes she went oh its nice actually..and then she didn't want to get off :D
