Hello all. Not posted in a while as have been very buisy.
Both my boys are doing well
Merryn is getting braver about hacking out and seems tto be trusting me more and more. He hasn't freaked out for afew hacks and today we managed to have afew trots around the common without him getting to stressed out.
We had the OHs kids 2 weekends ago and E was riding off the leadrein again, Stopping, turning, going over poles and she even had a little trot (back on the L.R for that though) She was quite scared but she wanted to do it. She shreaked as Merryn started to trot the first time so we only did afew steps and stopped. Merryn was such a star and didn't react to her atall
. E was so proud of herself for trotting and even did a couple more short trots. We have them again this weekend so hopefuly she'll do it all again and the more she does it the braver she'll become
Herbie has been behaving himself out hacking and we can even trot passed the wild ponies now
He still has his nappy moments every now and again but they quickly pass.
Some exciting news I haven't shared with you yet is Herbs and I are going to do a dressage test on Sat. It will be his first ever time ridden at a show so could be intresting
We are only doing walk and trot. I thought keep it simple for our first attempt
and it's at a very quiet low key venue so hopefuly it'll be a good expereance for us both.
Today I had ago at loading him in a lorry for the first time in 6 months and he walked in as good as gold
Streight up the ramp, first time no questions asked and without a bucket of feed under his nose
I was so proud of him. After all that time batteling with him to go in the lorry (and several people almost getting badly hurt
) He now loads like a little star
Lets hope he does it again on Sat and behaves himself at the show.
Another good note is Herbie doesn't seem to be so itchy anymore. He's back out 24/7 and I bought him a fly rug that covers most of his body. Only his legs from the knees/ hocks down, his nose and the bottom of his tail are showing
It seems to be doing the trick so his mane may be saved after all. It's abit thin at the bottom but aslong as the rug doesn't rub anymore out we may just about get away with it for showing this year

Thats quite a long update
Thankyou for reading chocolate cake and ice cream if you got to the end
