Well, after my last thread about our disastrous jumping at the clear round show...http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=603429
...we did another clear round at a different venue and this time it also had instruction between your 1st and 2nd round. Well, we were like a different horse and rider team!!
The first round, the instructor took down the gate jump and the pole off the water tray jump for me and the fences were about all about 1'3"- 1'6" and we nailed it no problem. Then jumped on my friend's nappy Connemara and made it jump the 2nd round as it kept refusing everything and trying to nap to the gate for her during her first round and she flatly refused to ride any more. The instructor explained to me how to think of some of the jumps like the gate and I was like "oh yeah!", then did the 2nd round on my own ned.
She put the gate back up for me (was about 1'9"- 2'- not sure but it was higher than the rest of them), put the pole back across at the water tray and raised some of the others.
Well, we nailed them all and I was laughing all the way round with a smile. We even got a rosette!
I'm so pleased and now seem to have been talked into doing the ODE at the end of May. We're only going to be doing the mini-mini height of 1'3"- 1'6" and am actually looking forward to it. Bought some of my gear for it today. A month ago, I would never have dreamed of entering it!!
