My little manny , who was very poorly couple weeks ago when i last posted about him and his lami , cushings and his sore feet, lami that was never ending and his poor sad, glum unhappy little face , we were seriously thinking he was to be put to sleep then , vet said we were responsible and maybe kindest thing for him etc .

We gave him him 2 weeks on the increased 2 mg pergolide , to see if he improved , or picked up any , he changed with the week (Touch wood ) he is doing great !!! really amazing , has came completely back to life, he is is usual cheeky , happy self , bickering at feedtimes, showing who is boss, walking , trotting , cantering and bucking !!!!!

neighing for his dinner , eating again, thank god, just so perked up its remarkable!!!

he seems to have just needed slightly higher dose was all !!!!

i am soo happy , makes me soo pleased to know he is not ready for horsey heaven just yet , I know he may still go downhill later on , maybe sooner than we would like , but even if he can have another 6months , year , 2 years happy and painfree and sound , with a spring in his step , then that is great .

Thank you guys , everyone who gave me advice and encouragement and your stories of your lami / cushings experience and success !!!

I really think this forum can be such a great , helpful , kind , reassuring place , when we all help each other and give support and suggestions whether horsey or not .

Thanks everyone, so happy with my little boy , his coat is pretty rotten looking though , but he has his old sparkle back !!xxxxxxxxxxx

That is great news!

thanks guys , mmm , hoc choccy , thanks .
i hope so too , when he couldnt even walk across the field 2 weeks ago and we were having to shove / carry his back end up to the stables to put his inside , and it looked like he wasnt going to make it at all , vet was on his way , i was remembering all our happy times , when he escaped and got into the garden , stood in middle of our goldfish pond, ate all my mothers best flowers !!

threw me off into a hedge , into the sea , won me squillions of rossettes !!!! hes never really been a childrens pony !!! my friends and i and my cousins rode him from he was 5yo til present day, and he was always far too strong , little fat neck he would set and trundle off in his preferred direction !!
usually behaved very well at shows ,

always winning showjumping , handy pony , pc games, etc , altho once at end of jump off he didnt stop and circle when my friend was riding him, he just trotted straight through the rope !!! and sliced my friend off his back completely !!! they got a special award for this spectacular show and a trophy for the jumping !!!
nowadays he is soo good and loves my 5yo little brother , we knew he was really poorly as he wasnt looking for my little brother ..
he always looks for him, and watches him , every move he makes he likes to watch him , and when i hug him, he pulls faces , and wanders off to my little brother and just stands with him and is hugged and kissed and dragged around happily by him .

xxxxxxx

They are worth their weight in gold, these ponies, and I'm really glad your devotion to his health and trying so hard to keep him going has paid off. Pergolide is wonderful stuff and long may his recovery continue. Lovely story and I agree this forum is truly a wonderful place in times of need.
