Right then, first off i want to thank those who replied to me, it helped hearing what you had to say.

So after a good chat with my vet, he has spoken to the surgeon, and I have decided to not go through with the surgry as it looks like she has had this long before i got her. As all she has ever known is pain when saddle goes on its not fair to put her through it for a hope and a dream.......so she will be a Lady of Leisure for the rest of her life.

the lovely lady :)

So sorry about the KS. Am thrilled you can give her a Lady of Leisure life. Will you breed from her?

Thank you

I would love to as she has fab lines but i really cant afford it so no at this moment in time i wont.

plus there are loads of other lovely young foals out there that need homes i wouldnt feel right breeding from her, even tho its something i have always wanted to do since i first saw her move:)

I feel for you, I too retired my mare due to kissing spine, at the age of 6. the sad fact is that some horses can't be treated. Your mare is very lucky that she is with you.

Before you think about breeding - sadly - it would be worth speaking to your vet. Mine was of the opinion that it would be unfair to breed from my mare as her back would be affected by pregnancy.

I'm not going to breed from her, I wouldn't feel right doing it with putting pressure on her back. And would be scared she would pass it on.....it's a nice though to picture watch a foal would have been like tho:)

I think we are going to do some injections, just got to re speak to vet as brain had been abit fried.

She is a lovely mare. Will be with us for life, no matter what.
