Ill add the email below! i am so happy! i knew i had choosen the right home for him!!
"Hi Rachel
Sorry my response the other day was rather rushed - so nice to hear from you.
The ride to the pub was great - he was really well behaved even when a cement mixer went past us (he's still not keen on lorries!) and was such a pleasure to ride.
Yesterday he went out with the daughter of a friend - she's 13 and a superb rider - she's been riding him a bit in the school and jumping him but this was her first ride out (she went with Deborah and her daughter, Lilla (age 5) on her pony - we were concerned that Katherine's 5 year old ex-racehorse might be a bit exciting for the pony so I let her take Cal). Apparently he didn't put a foot wrong though I am glad they didn't meet any lorries.
He's had quite a quiet winter as I have been away a lot (am just off to America for 2 weeks) so I haven't clipped him and he is still rather hairy - his winter coat is almost grey at this time of year ... am hoping to have a palomino by the time I get home!
But last summer we had quite a busy time - we did a 3 day holiday with friends in Norfolk including a trip to the beach. He was so funny on the beach - we walked down as we had been advised to to check the sand and then turned to gallop back - the other three set off at great speed and he just lolloped along in a canter until they disappeared from view at which point he stopped and started whinnying! He got the idea the second time however. He's not keen on the waves though I did get him in - as the photos on the website www.scurry.co.uk prove - at least for a short time.
You'll also see that he has appeared in the press and is a cover boy on the Bedfordshire on Horseback publication that I wrote last year - sadly he kept sticking his head up every time he got near the photographer so looks a bit of a giraffe!
We've been having dressage lessons with an Alexander Technique instructor and we are making some progress but I don't think we'll be competing!
We also went to Yorkshire last summer for a weeks camp at Charlie Wilson's place - he's a natural horsemanship chap you may have seen in Your Horse? I don't have any pictures of me standing on an upturned oil drum and circling Cal around me ... but it was quite an experience especially as the oil drum kept making noises!
He's currently living in a herd of 5 - him, Sam (bay TB), Pasha (chestnut TB), Willow (TBx - my old boy) and Alfie (Section A). He bullies Willow and Alfie pretty mercilessly at times! Just now he is trying to help Sam take off his anti-windsucking collar - as ever if there's some trouble to get into he'll find it!
I can't remember if I've told you about his most serious bit of mischief? He managed to open the gate from the field (a bridleway gate with an extended handle - now padlocked if they are in there!) and took Willow and Coco (Lilla's Shetland before she got Alfie) for a walk up the B660 at 8.30 one morning - with a queue of parents taking kids to school following. Luckily a horse-riding friend saw them coming and went out with carrots and enticed them into her paddock! That was about 3 years ago ... luckily nothing as serious since.
So in short he's having fun - we're having fun together! An assortment of photos attached! He sends a hug!

i am so glad he is enjoying life!!!
