They still arent bothering her so have left them alone.I spoke to the Vet who said he doesnt think they are Bot Larval sores as they are now so rare, BUT if she hasnt been wormed with an Ivermectin wormer there is a chance they could be.

These are pics ive taken of them over the last week.

Now vet has seen them he and another vet are sure they are actually from a form of Herpes virus, so basically coldsores. Youngsters are more susceptible to them due to lower immune system, small scratch and there you go! You can use human coldsore cream Zovirax or just bonjela on them to help clear them up, they will take a while to clear up and like human coldsores, may come back again but should clear up as she gets older. Any problems phone the vet. So, Im off to buy some Bonjela!!

Hope this helps!

*Disclaimer* This is advice given to me from my vet about my fillys sores, its not a diagnosis for every horse with mouth sores! :D

Thanks for the update - I also posted about these sores on my mares mouth and I must admit my first thought was cold sores and that perhaps her immune system had been compromised but then I got caught up in the bot comments..

Think I will try the cold sore treatment too!
