I got my napping mare back home on tue from a weeks training and apparently thet where really pkeased with her progress. well last night i took her out for a hack and generally she was very good apart from when i wanted to turn at her field gate (oposite another field with 5 horses in it) and go up the lane again she napped started reversing and not turning or goin forward but with a bit of kicking and growling she turned and trotted up the lane again. Just wondering if i did thd right thing and was thinking of carrying a crop with me and next time she trys it give my boot a slap with it do u think the noise would help pkus do you think she just did it cause she wanted to be with the other horses? plus she is being extreamly squealing in the stable, out on the hack and stands at her fence squealing to the other horses in the field oposite her although they never squeal back is this something i should worry about is is it just horse natter?

With a napping type you need not bother about the motivation, just kick on, I always carry a schooling whip, and use it at the slightest nonsense. Be firm, be fair, and be strong.
Try to avoid turning back, go round in a circular route.
Squealing is a mareish thing, kick on...............
I suggest you keep her up to her work by having a lesson every week.

Yeah thats what i was thinking and i do plan to have a lesson atleast once a week with the same trainer she has been with for the past week and i think i will carry a stick from now on. at end if day its not like im asking her to walk through a fire shes turned out 24/7 now so she has more than enough time to do her think all i ask is a hour of riding each day! As regards going in a circle id live to but unfortunately the lanes i have for hacking all have dead ends so i have to turn and go back.
