Firstly can I just say I was overwhelmed by all your positive vibes and cyber hugs yesterday - thanks so much.

They must have worked!! Vets have just rang and after a re-evaluation today and more scans she is healing 'remarkably' well (must be those vibes!) and can come home tomorrow!!

How amazing is my mare, 5 days in hospital after a horrendous fracture and surgery and all when she is 5 months pregnant! Bless her heart.

She's got a long period of box rest and nursing ahead but hopefully we can keep her calm and well at home and thus help her to keep hold of the little one.

Thanks for everyone's replies, hugs and vibes it really does mean a lot to me

Great news, will be keeping everything crossed for you. My friend's TB mare had an open fracture of her front cannon and she's made a complete recovery, healed brilliantly - hope your mare does just as well!

Thats wonderful news JH58, I've only just seen your other post, but am so pleased to now read this one. It sounds like a long road ahead but at least for now things are looking good, lots of positive vibes from me too.

Thank you!

I'm picking her up at 9.30 am tomorrow and I can't wait! 8 weeks box rest and more x-rays in the next few weeks plus numerous dressing changes but at least she'll be home.

I've only just seen your post on her accident, I really hope she continues to do well! How is your girl bred, she looks so like my mare, who had a foal this year. My girl also had an accident, where she fractured two of the small bones in her hock and has been on 3 1/2 months box rest since. Hopefully she won't be in for too much longer. Positive vibes being sent your way that your girl keeps her foal. I know exactly what you're going through, all the worry and stress. Great news that she can come home though, now you just have to think of ways to keep her occupied on box rest, I found ad lib hay worked for my girl, as long as she's eating she's happy!! Keep us posted.
