Hey all you horsie people
So I promised updates on my ponio's full penile amputation and I plan on keeping to my word
He's now back home, we're still draining his incision (the one under his tummy) twice a day though it's mostly just a precaution. On Monday we're to stop draining it (so tomorrow), on Wednesday all of his stitches are coming out and then he's immediately allowed to start working again (meeeeep!) - of course I'll start off again slowly, I wouldn't want to risk anything else going wrong
The vet is extremely pleased (and surprised) at how well he recovered after the Op, he immediately learnt to squat and squirt like a mare (since his urethra was redirected to under his tail), had his appetite back since day one and we avoided any major swelling. He also took the anaesthetics very well - got up without any real problems. The only problem the vet had was in surgery he lost a bit more blood than bargained for but the recovery has been amazingly smooth and he'll be back in full action and we'll continue in EM dressage by April (I'd like to just slowly bring him back for the rest of Feb and then start working properly again during March)
He sends a friendly nicker to all of you that sent positive vibes during his Op, they definitely seem to have worked and my 17 year old ponio has made a full recovery in record time!
Now here are some photos ^_^
This photie is from the day after my boy had the op, this is where his boy bits use to be:
Two Days After My Boy's Op - he was bandaged to encourage fluid drainage and to discourage swelling (also to stop anything from possibly irritating the wound):
Two Days After My Boy's Op - Food is still priority number one!:
Two Days After His Op - my boy's best shexy face:
My boy FINALLY back at home!:
