Well..... since my last update foal was doing well then took a turn for the worst on Sunday..... His Diarrhea had stopped and poos turned to normal which was good but he had a prolapse...... not very nice! All of his insides were sticking out of his bottom and they were about the size of a fist..... His sheath had also swollen up to a massive size....
Vet came out again and had to admit she had never heard of this in a horse apart from when mares are foaling..... never mind a wee foalie! She was hoping for some help from big boss vetty man but he hadn't seen it either! Anyway she decided to give it a go to poke all his stuff back in..... Foal was amazing... he behaved so good and even when the vet managed to get it all back in he helped her to stitch it by keeping his bottom clenched as tight as he could!
Vet took blood to find out what may be causing the swellings and it turns out he is low in protein.... She was back out yesterday to loosen the stitching and after filling him up with liquid paraffin left to see if any magic has worked....... It has taken him all of yesterday and this morning, many scoots of liquid paraffin in both ends to start pooing again so he has understandably been a little uncomfortable.
Although the wee man is not out of the woods yet he is standing his ground at the moment.
His Mothers udder also seems to be healing and she is being so good when her foal is being dealt with.... She deserves a carrot from everyone!

Bannoffie pie and strawberry cheesecake for those of you who made it this far!
