Update on pulling mane a differnt way :D

Well....i was fed up with my horses hair...he had to much....so i decided to chop it all of....i used a pair of thinning scissors....and i have to say


It took me no time atall!! it was so easy my horse stood still and actually went to sleep.

Im really happy with his mane....but i think i was a bit over enthusiastic on the forelock but i have grown to think it suits my boy....but maybe it is a bit short.

The picture of his actual mane isnt brill but you can get the idea.

The mane still needs a bit more thinning....but i love it

And now its time to see his cute forelock

I think t suits him...he has a pretty face and should show as much of it of as possible i think

While he was having a haircut i thought i would give his feathers a trim...i made a little mistake and....decided to take them all of

He now looks very smart

Would recommend using ths method for any hrse who doesnt like thier manes being pulled...its great

I use a blade to do manes, can't stand pulling the traditional way and scissors always give too straight a cut so now i backcomb and run the blade diagonally down the hair - result, one natural mane and a happy ponio!

Did you just cut with the thinning scissors? Or do you have to comb it through?
i haven't a clue what to do with my mares...its such an uneven, long mess..

good luck when you try to plait it, you will need a ton of setting lotion

Can't see the pics ( am supposed to be working) but sounds perfect. I use a solo comb, backcomb and "chop" the ends off. Easy to get natural looking and straight. I used to use scissors as my neddie hated mane pulling I'm sure thinning ones would be much better. My friend pulls manes just using her fingers and gets amazing results but now her dobbins has sweet itch pulling is not an option

well.....i cut ti with scissors to just an inch longer than i want and then i start to thin it....i thinnes it a bit more....it looks alot flatter....and the paliting part.....will nto a be a prob...i plait when his mane is went and i sew them in so it should be fine...

silcis, i sew my plaits in as well but you will find that lots of short little bits will stick out all the way down the plait. use lots of setting lotion to stick it all back in place again.
