I posted not so long ago about my Lurcher pup, howling and barking whenever we left him, even if we just went upstairs and left him downstairs.
Well I hope I'm not tempting fate but I think we have had abreak through

.
We have left him everyday whilst off over Christmas, just for 30/40 mins and he has howled each time. We know this as we taped him

. I bought a DAP diffuser and 2 days later he was quiet. Im really sceptical about these sort of things and maybe he finally got used to being left but maybe the DAP actually worked??
So I left him tonight whilst I dropped hubby at the pub and when I came home he was lay in his bed asleep in the conservatory, not even in his crate which is normally his first choice. He didnt even wake up, I had to call him. Its like a miracle, I really hope we can now start to build up the time he is left (which isnt often) and get some normality back in our lives. Just going food shopping was an ordeal.
Thanks to everyone on here for all your advice, it really has helped.

I got a DAP for Flick too, and was still having major problems with her overnight, she was waking me up 3 or 4 times a night even when I left her with Islay in the kitchen

I was getting paranoid that she was howling all day whilst I was at work, so I videoed her at the beginning of this week

The tape ran for an hour and a half after I left for work and showed........... two sleeping greyhounds who didnt stir off their beds

To say I was pleased is an understatement, SO proud of little Flick and SO relieved that she isnt annoying the neighbours every day

We have solved the overnight problem too as she...ahem...sleeps on my bed now

I am letting her off the lead in an enclosed grass showjumping arena we have got at the yard and her recall is amazing, she comes to me straight away whenever I call or whistle after only a month

So maybe it is the DAP diffusers - but whatever it is, I dont care, just glad it works for you and for me

Thats great news. It seems mad taping or videoing them doesnt it but the sense of satisfation when they are ok is fantastic.
Boris is in the conservatory now alone, I have to keep this up. I know Im only upstairs but he's being quiet which is great.
Maybe the DAP's do work afterall.
