Update on Sophie221's Bertie

Sophie managed to get the vet out to Bertie first thing yesterday - although he had actually improved overnight.
As the improvement suggests, the vet doesn't think the joint is infected/affected so has just given painkillers/anti-inflammatories, and will come straight back out if there are any changes.
Hope this will reassure everyone who has been worried for Bertie and for Sophie, and also will draw this story to a close.

Thank you for doing this - I did not want to get involved on the last post as it was a little heated.

Hopefully pony will be able to go to his new home shortly and be fine.

Am sure Sophie must be relieved.
 
just found it, dear god i'm glad i missed it!! i would of had a fair few things to say. i can't see the video, i'm guessing it has been removed??

Perhaps, without Googling, you'd like to share with us the structure of the equine lower limb?

Good im glad it was only this, which TBH i thought it was due to similar experiences myself, and people can give the poor girl a break! Horses can look like they have broken a leg, and in reality it is not that serious, i wouldnt have panicked from what she explained and what i could see.

you've lost me lol!!! i didn't see the image but the blatent disregard for calling the vet got me right wound up. but thats her choice.

but she did get it seen to in the end so i'm glad the ponio is doing fine

Well, if YOU don't know about equine anatomy - how do you know how to differentiate between injuries, either?
Or perhaps you too would take pictures/videos of your horse's legs and post them for advice?
In which case you are in a similar position to sophie221, aren't you?

Hmmmm ... if I wasn't sure about an injury I'd either call the vet out, ring the vet and speak over the phone or even photograph the injury and email the photos to the vet - I think the last thing I would do is post the photos on here and ask for advice!

Glad to hear the pony is OK though!

i really don't understand what you are getting at?? i'm definatly no vet, so i can't differentiate between injuries. and if you are getting at the time when i had to take pics of abby's sore legs i had to to send them to her owner, to find out if she had had something like that flare up before........ i took on all advice that was given to me about those sores, vet was out asap to diagnose an infection which is now fully cleared

I am pleased for Sophie and her pony. I also hope she has learnt that any penetrating injury around a joint can have serious complications and needs careful monitoring.

I dont suppose she slept easily last night after all the hysteria. Poor girl. Thank goodness all was not as bad as it seemed.
