The good - Spider finished his antibiotics on Saturday, his temprature has been normal since wednesday & he is v bright in himself.... & bored!
The bad - He was rescoped today & although all looks ok on the outside, he still had food in his windpipe
& occasionally has a small amount of discharge from his nose.
So the good again..... he has been allowed to come home
He was so pleased to see the horsebox & cantered up the ramp. I think he thought he was off to a party
The vet has said that there is nothing they would now do with him that I can't do at home. He's allowed fibre only, so Alfalfa oil as he needs condition (any other suggestions welcome) plus adlib hay and poss haylage. Everything fed from the floor. His temperature need to be taken daily & if it goes up, that will be our early warning that something is not right.
He has to stay on box rest, but he's allowed to come back into light work - walking & a bit of trotting. Nothing to make him sweat or blow.
He will go back in to be rescoped on 2/1 as long as we don't have a relapse between now & then.
So mixed news & not quite what I was hoping for.
I am now keeping everything crossed that he doesn't have a relapse & that we make it to the new year & his windpipe is then clear.
