Well, a few of you may know that I was having some strength issues with my 6 yo ISH. I have been riding her in a simple jointed pelham with roundings for a few weeks now, have cut out her hard feed altogether (she now gets alfa and her vitamins thats it) and stopped taking her in the menage, which was a place that wound her up the most, I think because it is too near her 'house'. Well the transformation is remarkable, she stands while I mount, she is much better to bridle ( used to throw her head up and'mock' panic as I put the head piece over her ears) - and now walk, trot and canter without fighting is starting to work softly on the bit. No leaning or pulling at all. I am going to keep her in the pelham until she is a bit more 'established' and then move her down to a demi anky perhaps - as I dont want her to be in a pelham forever! Thoughts ?!
