that i thought might be a sarcoid and other people thought ingrowing hair or bite.

Interestingly its a melanoma (she's grey). Unusual place for it (under saddle) but then thats my mare for you, she always has unusual things (see copious other threads about weird diseases etc)...

Vet has said leave it monitor it and see what happens, worse comes to worse we will remove it, but hope it won't grow much bigger.

Finger crossed

Anyone have experience of a melanoma on back?

I hope it doesn't grow. I feel your pain RE horses as I've had two horses with lumps removed recently, but both of the lumps were on their faces. One thought to be a melanoma and wasn't, the second was thought to be a sarcoid and wasn't. Has part of your horse's lump been sent to histology?

Hi Faracat I think I replied to one of your threads about horses with weird conditions.. Sounds like we have had similar challenges! Not had biopsy or anything yet as not growing so sort of hoping it will stay as it is but chances are it won't as she has just been given all clear from her last problem :)

Yep, that was my thread. :)

The Vet was 99% certain that the grey's lump was a melanoma and it wasn't, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that your horse's lump is a benign oddity too. ;)
