just spoke to vet at intensive care - horsey doing very very well apparently, they even called him boisterous! hilarious - hes like a donkey most of the time so thats great news - YYYYYIIIPEEEE!!!

still on the drip but that comes out at 2pm and hes feeling much better and is eating hay all the time, am begging them to let me see him now!

thanks for the support guys its working a treat, just need the diarohea to clear up and then it looks like he will pull thro !!!!!

Oh wicked, that's brilliant news. You must be so relieved. When my horse was in hospital for the three weeks I couldn't work, I just couldn't concentrate, I was a right mess. I'm so glad your horse is coming home. Sadly i was not so lucky.

Great news, what a fighter. They are tough old birds our older lads arent they? Hopefully he will be home soon and you can get some sleep!!
 
I just sent you a PM as my horse is also at RVC, also presented with suspected colic and I was told last night that they suspected he had colitis! He is now in the isolation unit/ intensive care/ critical nursing. Good to hear they have someone with them all the time. I wonder if they both caught it there or if there is something going round locally? Or is it just a really common thing? I was quite surprised when they asked me to sign to say its not their fault if my horse gets some bug like this whilst at the RVC (paperwork when I arrived). They made a point of saying they didn't have anything like that at the college......
Well I guess our two might not be that far away from each other tonight!!
Mine had had his fluids, his temp and heart rate were back down and he was eating hay....
I will speak to them tomorrow but are any visits allowed whilst at the isolation unit?
And who is your vet there?
 
just answered your pm, my vet is philip,he is in isolation too,and no you cant visit them once they are in isolation which is so sad,altho i did speak to a student who looks after them and they do seem to get to know them pretty well.
 
Aha! Same vet!! And apparently our horses are next door to each other...!! Mine went in with colic but unfortunately, probably due to the stress, has now gone down with colitis. However, he is a "3 or 4" on the 1-10 scale... and is eating, so that is something. Waiting now for the test results. They haven't bio-sponged him yet because he hates tubes up his nose... Anyway, he is better today than yesterday...
