Thought I would let you all know. The horse I posted about yesterday, who lost a huge amount of blood after being tubed. Well I am very sad to say he lost his fight last night.
He had a PM this morning and he was found to have a large tumor around his wind pipe that had started to press on his oesophogus (sp?) It was just inside his chest cavity, hence why there were no outwards sign of this.
As for the blood loss from being tubed. The practice has said that although he was terminal, such a huge blood loss due to being tubed (three 5litr buckets worth, so thats around 30 pints) added greatly to his suffering. So I think there is some kind of fee waver for treatment being agreed.
I feel relief that we have the answers we needed. I still feel angry towards the vet who tubed him, as to climb in their car and drive off when a sick horse has blood pouring from his nose is just not on. And to have been spoken to like an idiot when we said this is not right was insult to injury. I have seen a fair few horses being tubed, a small blood loss is common yes, but 30 pints is not.
But now he is in a better place, and we have been given our much needed answers as to why such a great horse had died.
I loved him dearly as if he were my own. I will miss him very much.
