Posted a couple of weeks ago about our mare who had been diagnosed with heart murmur and liver problem. We have no real news yet except that it doesn't look like ragwort as she does not have any of the terrible symptoms. She's been treated with antibiotics and Vit B12 and vet wants to wait another 2 weeks before testing her bloods again. She is now getting low protein diet and milk thistle and we have everything crossed that next bloods show an improvement. She's a bit down and lethargic but looks great and is her usual loving self, lots of kisses! She was supposed to be competing at the RC champs this week, but I don't think she minds not going!! Many thanks to those forum members who helped me last time I posted - it was greatly appreciated and the genuine concern was very heart warming. I'll keep you posted on any developments. PS You can see a picture of her in photo gallery enjoying her yoghurt under if only yoplait sponsored horses!!

She looks great moyraL and as you say, no signs of photosensitivity or loss of appetite. Depression and lethargy is probably linked to liver problems but as long as it isn't ragwort poisoning, the liver has amazing powers of regeneration. Low protein diet and milk thistle and top quality nursing (ie trying to find all the little things that make her feel life is worth while) will all contibute to lifting her spirits which inturn will help her fight off nasties. Fingers crossed that the repeat bloods show some improvement. xxx
