I was asking about my horses lameness in his front leg last week and whether a weeks box rest and bute as advised my vet was correct anyway the update is he was referred to equine hospital after his lameness was showing no improvement where nerve blocks confirmed the pain was in his foot, he then went for x-rays and there was no abnormalities and vet said he is as sure as he can be without an MRI scan that its a soft tissue injury and he was put on 2 further weeks box rest and to reintroduce the bute he is at the end of his first weeks box rest and we are now told to stop the bute and see how he is, he is still lame on the bute but there is a big improvement now fingers crossed to see how he is off the bute but gut feeling is he will be no better and will be off for another trip to the vets!
Anyone got any experience on healing time for an injury like this suppose its hard to say untill we know exactly what it is.

My mare tore a rather large hole in her ddft on her hind leg, not in the foot tho, and it was probably 6 months or so before she was sound on it - although tbh, despite a 50% lesion she was only very mildly lame.

He was very lame at first now he is just slightly lame but he is on 2 sachets of but per day will just have to keep fingers crossed he has been on 2 weeks box rest so far though

welcome to my world - about 2 months ago! - Except we didn't do the bute.
We went for an MRI - And no, it wasn't all good news.

Do you want people to diagnose your horse for you from the information provided?! its impossible!

Good luck - and start speaking to your insurance company NOW!

I am already in touch with my insurance and no i dont want a diagnosis i will trust my vet for that its just more of an update!!
