Well i had the vet out today and Jed has been referred to Rossdales at Newmarket for further tests.

The concern areas are fore left suspensory ligament and his sacriliac (sp?).

I have no idea what the outcome will be or how bad the problems are - i will find out when he has test done at Rossdales. My vet told me they are both treatable and i have caught them earlier enough.

Does anyone have any stories to tell about either of these problems in horses? I dont know anything about any of them and cant seem to find much on the net.

Thank you - im sooooo gutted my poor little man is broke! We have always joked that he was the unbrakeable one on the yard and now look at him, not one but two injuries!

As soon as the vet said "is he insured" i knew it wasnt good news and broke down!

Oh b*gger!!

I know how you feel. We're into the 6th month of our suspensory recovery.

The suspensory lig is a funny one, and depending on where it's injured, depends on what treatment is offered.

If you want more info, feel free to pm.

Huge hugs to you x

Suspensory ligament will cure with time and treatment.

Sacro iliac was a problem with one of mine and he evented with it, so again I would't worry too much.

You may be a bit bored for a while, but your babe will be OK.

Suspensory - well, lots of people try shockwave first and then it really depends on what your vet favours. Can be fixable.

Sacroiliac ligament strains are not treatable - they can only be managed. If there is something wrong with the sacroiliac joint, a steroid injection and, in acute cases, tildren can help.

Wait and see what vet says - who are you seeing at Rossdales? If you need any further info on SI strains pm me. I have one with a SI strain and got lots of helpful advice from Hussar and Scarlett on here.
