For anyone who's interested, Dessie underwent his operation this morning to flush the joint out. Apparently it took longer than they thought it would and the surgeon is concerned about bone infection. He's got to stay at the vets for 7-10 days and be cross tied, then has to be cross tied at home for 1-2 weeks. He will be on 3 months box rest before they re-assess. This is all providing he doesn't end up with a bone infection
I think the next few days are crucial to his recovery, so vibes needed and fingers crossed!
YO has been wonderful - I was worried she would be upset with me, but she's been fine. All horses are going on individual TO once she's sorted the fields out, which is fair enough. I was happy with mine on IT before we put them in together anyway
We are even going out for a hack (with her other horse) tomorrow. I just hope poor Dessie will be ok, bless his little hooves
