Hi just a quick update on my post a few days ago. The vet came out friday afternoon and palpated his leg, watched him trotted up, flexion tested him, watched the video of me riding him (the last one on my previous post) and was very pleased with his progress so he has said I can start trot work, building up slowly and introducing one or two things each time we go in the school. I need to watch for heat and swelling. I mentioned to him that me and my physio friend Nelson11 thought he was slightly dragging his off hind due to the bone spavin and the vet agreed with my decision not to get his hock medicated at the moment as it was only done in June/July 2011. He also talked to me about fusing the hock using ethanol so I am going to do a bit of research about that and see if its viable for Bailey.

He thinks Bails will be able to do canter work by the end of the month/early next month and has said that I can be looking at small cross poles by the end of Feb and seeing how we get on. :) But I am going to force myself to go slowly. I don't want to undo all the hard work.

He says that the slight hop on the off fore had dropped considerably and he thinks its to do with overcompensation. Bailey also has severe arthritis in his n/f coffin joint which was medicated in about Sept/Oct 2011 which could also have been caused by the off hind as well as the suspensory ligament as horses are more predisposed to these problems caused by overcompensation in opposite diagonals.

Thanks for all your support help and advice. This is wha this forum is about and its great to have people to talk to. xxx:)

Glad you got some good news, I hadn't realised your poor boy had other ongoing issues. Bleddy horses, total heartbreakers aren't they :)
