In my previous post I asked if it was a good idea to do a requirements doc before I went to a friend who is a dealer. Most replies suggested it was a good idea.
So I put together a document in 3 pages.
Page 1 what I wanted the new horse for , what size horse, colour price range ability etc.
I didnt put a section on my experience as Dave has met me walking back from the finish of a Hunter Trial dripping wet grinning from ear to ear as I hadnt drowned.
Page 2 I copy and pasted tons of photos only from horsequest of every sort of horse that appealed to my eye
Page 3 I copy and pasted as many horses I didnt like as I could find so he has an idea of what doesnt appeal.
What was good was there were less photos of horses I didnt like.
Dave thought it was a very good idea and thinks I am clever whoo hoo!
I tried one horse he had in which was a 16.2 bay Gelding 8 years old. He had recently come over from Ireland and I must say he was a cracking ride I hacked him out for an hour had a canter and a gallop in the field and then popped a few cross country fences on him.
Unforunatly we just did not click. He felt bigger than 16.2 but that may be because I ride my friends 15 hander from time to time. I did not ask the price as Dave knows my budget. I just felt that I should have hacked him back to his stable thinking I dont care how much he costs I want him. maybe he was a bit to chiled and laid back I dont want anything fizzy but he didnt give me a Buzz.
Still maybe next time every month without a horse is a months keep into the buy a new horse fund.
