Firstly thank you to everyone who gave me advice about Cracker's possible Laminitis.

He hasn't had any heat in his leg for 2 days now and he is no longer lame, however the vet is still coming to check him out, just to make sure. The Magnesium Oxide etc arrived this morning I am still going to change his routine as you all suggested, he is a fatty and still needs to lose weight, but fingers (and everything else) crossed hopefully he is going to stay OK.

Thanks again

Glad he isnt lame anymore, thats a good sign. Heat is less reliable and isnt really a reliable indicator, so its good the vet is coming just to make sure.

You may find the vet goes "WHAT?" to the magnesium oixide - there are only a few who are really switched on to the effect it has, and most of them are ones with barefooter clients who have been using it. They're always anxious about not using a "balanced" mix of minerals and feeding a single one.

May be worth asking him if he thinks it is worth testing for IR.
