Just a quick update to let you now how my friends mare Rosie is.

We have absolutely no idea what she managed to injure herself on even though the field was given a very close inspection. It is thanks to some workmen working close by that spotted her bleeding that Rosie is still with us today.

Rosie is on bute twice a day for the next few days. She is allowed a 5 minute walk twice a day to keep her moving. The vet is going to see about removing the packing in a day or two as doesn't want an infection to set in. Worry is that when the packing is removed the wound will start up again. Vet says its highly likely she has nicked an artery or a vein due to the amount of blood and the speed she lost it.

Fingers crossed that Rosie makes a full recovery with no setbacks

Bless her lots of VIBES for Rosie.
If you can't find anything in the field that may have caused it, do you think some sick person may have done it. It may be worth talking to the police in case they have had any other instances.
Hope she soon gets better.

ouch, I too missed the previous post. Its amazing what the body can heal though so fingers crossed for a good recovery in time.

OMG!!! ((((((big vibes)))) that she is ok. What a brave horse, it must have been terrible for your friend. I hope she is ok x

I havnt read your previous post but thank god the workmen saw her. hat looks nasty. Fingers crossed it heals well.

Thanks everyone.

Thank heavens for workmen indeed.

Rosie has been so good while she's been prodded and poked and stabbed with needles. We can tell she's feeling the effects of it all though as she didn't object to being put in her stable. She much prefers being out even in foul weather

I'm going to see Rosie again on Thursday and will take some more pics to compare to today's to see how the healing is going. Will give another update then.
