Firstly thanks for all the replies & good advice.

It's definately a case of his hormones kicking in. He has now discovered he can HOWL!! Won't settle in his cage at night, is off his food and just sits at the gate whinging and looking longingly towards the bitch in season across the road.

I stupidly let him out loose first thing thing this morning which resulted in me having a brisk walk round the nieghbourhood in hot persuit of the randy little sod.

He is booked into the vets first thing tomorrow morning. Made the appointment last Saturday, they have a waiting list - must be an outbreak of spring fever :-)

The long line training is progressing, I wouldn't say 'progressing well' because so far apart from tangling both himself and me, he has managed to bite through the long line & piss off & nearly strangled the cat :-(

Feeding by hand was working well UNTILL he went off his food. We have also discovered he doesn't like liver, quite likes cheese & smoked sausgae and LOVES pepperoni!!!!

The nutty neighbours continue with their nutty ideas......... woman across the road is supposed to be keeping in season bitch inside but said bitch appeared at my gate with the other 2 dogs from across the road. Same woman refuses to have the bitch neutered because APPARENTLY ''it's not guaranteed to work and if it goes wrong you end up with a dog who does pee pee everyehere'' !!!

Ah, glad to hear he will be waving bye bye to the boybits!!!

If he is biting through the longline, maybe be a bit craftier than him and loop a length of fine gauge chain (a cheapo choke chain, chain lead or brace lead with the g-glips at the end of the long line and his collar) between the end of the long line and him, so he cannot chew through it?

Don't worry about the longline, you will get used to it, especially if you have ever lunged a cheeky horse :p

Wow, your neighbour sounds very special indeed, I've never heard of a neutering not working, or of any bitches who turned into canine sprinkler systems!!!
Oh well, she'll have a nice litter of curs on her hands to sell for ££££ in no time *sigh*

Nice to hear how you are getting on!

I am sure the chop will make a huge difference to his behaviour (although it does take a while for the hormones to work their way through his system).

Ditto CC, your neighbour sounds like a gem! I think she might mean that elderly, neutered bitches have a greater chance of becoming incontinent, but it's a risk that might not actualise and if it does, it is controlled with medication. Weird woman!

It will certainly take time for your little horror to calm down as he has already got it in his system.
As for your silly neighbour does she actually realise if you don't get a bitch seen too that you are not going to breed from they have a greater risk of developing cancer & infections.

No telling some poeple. Good Luck

Dropped him off at the vets first thing this morning. Stupid I know, he has been driving me mad this week with his HOWLing, WHINGing and attempts to escape BUT i'm completely lost without the little monkey. Can't wait to pick him up later.

Excellent idea about the chain, thanks CaveCanem!!

Fortunately it's not the 'smacking' mad neighbour who has the bitch & the weird ideas about neutering. The neighbours around here are VERY SPECIAL, too much inbreeding and ideas left over from the drak ages!!!!!!!!!!!!
