So we finally had another lesson last wednesday. All of us rode in the same lesson which made it a bit crowded, but we had longer than an hour so can't really complain.
So, bit of bad lesson all around really. Two from my team fell off, one of them twice! One of them accidentally kicked their horse as they were given a leg up. Horse freaks out and off she goes, then later when she tried to canter the horse just freaked out again (no idea of the reason, but probably a bit sore after the previous incident) and she came off but thankfully didn't hurt herself either time and got up smiling, lol!
So when we finally got going it wasn't too bad to start off with. The horse i rode seemed fairly nice and quiet until we cantered which was rather exciting especially when she saw the jump
but nothing to bad. Started jumping a small cross pole and jumped it fine each time, but then we started on the slightly bigger jumps with a double. We it was safe to say that my riding just sucked from that point on, lol! Horse got pretty strong and fast so didn't want to give her too much encouragement coming into the jump but then we just ended up stopped. After another stop we finally jumped it but then took about a lap of the school in order to stop, with riding instructor shouting at me to use my 'emergancy brakes' lol. The instructor is quite different from my previous instructors, and didn't really know what her version of 'emergancy brakes' were. So she pulled me over and basically told me to be a cowboy and lean right back and stick my legs out in front of me. Don't know about other people but this isn't exactly how any other instructor has told me how to stop a horse, especially one you don't know. I didn't really want to haul on her mouth that much!
Anyhow, she got better after that, but had another couple of run outs at the last fence of the course. Needless to say my riding could have done with a fair few more lessons before our first competition which is on wednesday!!!!
Didn't even know if i would be riding in it until today and recieved a text saying that i would be a reserve instead, but then got another text saying the other girl who fell off still had a swollen ankle so could i ride instead. So really happy/excited/scared/nervous about wednesday now
Wishing i'd already learnt the dressage test aswell but didn't think i would end up riding so havn't learnt it yet! Hopefully won't take me too long
Anyhow, should be a good day wednesday, just gonna go and have fun and hope i don't get eliminated, whatever the score i'll be happy if i'm not eliminated
