Update..

So took arthritic dog down to the vet today. She has new supplements (seraquan or something?) to be on and is going to hip x-rays on monday to see what she has going on in there. He thinks her hips are the main problem and if they're bad we'll consider replacements.
Interesting to hear a receptionists dog there has had an elbow replacement, so we have a shot there if the elbows are bad. Mind, it's probably not good that I think she has arthritis in all 4 legs...bionic?

I think you must be on Seraquin which is what our rottie had for her arthritis. It's good but takes a while to kick in so you won't see a change overnight. She was also on Metacam which is a liquid painkiller.
