Updating a foreign passport with new ownership details?

Does anyone know how I go about updating ownership details on foreign passports? I have one horse with a Belgium Warmblood Society passport and one KWPN that I want to register in my name.
 
I sent a letter to the address on the stamp which was on the first page and they replied telling me to send a cheque for £15 with the passport. I sent it off and it returned within 10 days. I no longer have the horse but the passport was issued by the Dutch equivalent to DEFRA.
It was much more painless than I imagined!
 
Thanks for your reply, it sounds fairly painless and 10 days isn't too long to miss your passport for as will be needing it to take to competitions.
 
Bring a horse to France and the French National Stud will keep the passport for three months during which time your horse cannot compete. They have been know to keep passports for up to a year!!
