Is there a number for an english speaking office that you could ring and find out? Sorry if youve already done this but i just rang the passport issuing people and asked them what they needed to change the owner details. Some need a reciept from the previous owner or for the previous owner to sign a certain section, others just change it! But try and ring them!

hi thanks for info searched through passport and no numbers in english or +44 international that i can see? can get old owner to sign as although i dont live close to them any more as moved areas still speak to sometimes and can pop down to in future just hoping its not going to stop me reg him with bd old owner had no probs reg him with bsja

Hi,

I have a KWPN - I contacted info@kwpn.nl with details of my horse and they sent me an e-mail with what I should do and where to send pasport too.

I haven't done it yet!

and don't have e-mail to hand as is at work but you could try the e-mail. I did it in english/with a bit of dutch and got an english reply.

Thanks will email them and see whst happens, wont be much dutch in it though!! do you know if it will affect me reg my horse with bd?? i suppose quite a few people dont get passports changed as it seems quite a grey area?

I don't know about BD but I registered my mare with BSJA and they told me I needed to contact KWPN (and gave me the e-mail) to get the ownership sorted. didn't affect the registration at all though

you just ring the KWPN 0031 3412 55555, they speak english and are very helpfull and will tell you what to do.

you don't need a reciept, you just need the ownership document (usually folded up at the back of the passport, it an A4 landscape format piece of paper with the pedigree on and the old owners address on the back) and the passport, you will also need to put in a covering letter with your name and address so they can update it. you also have to send photo's of the face, full body both sides and if the horse has any random sploges then those too. they do this to make sure that it is the correct passport for the horse, but if you call them first they will explain it to you.

you send it off, if you make a note of the horses life number then you can ring them once you think it will have arrived and say that you're phoning to pay for the change of ownership and pay by credit card over the phone.

we usally send our recorded/signed for and they come back the same way. we've never had any problems but usually insure the letter with the post office when sending incase by some remote chance it got lost in the post (again, making a note of the life number would be a good idea just incase of this).

its really easy and they are very efficient.

thanks for info i dont seem to have that a4 piece of paper so will get on to old owners today to try and get everything in place, thanks again!

This is very interesting as I am in the same situation!

Does anyone know what email address to write to for the jumping winnings in Holland as the one I've written to wont reply. I've tried at least 3 times now so suspect its the wrong address.

I think its a bit of a nightmare, think the passport system is a nightmare just hoping i can get it sorted! not sure about jump winnings but will talk to my friend who had a jumper from abroad with points and will post on later if she knows

Here you go from the FAQ page of the KWPN web page

I just purchased a Dutch horse. Should I transfer it to my name? If I send in the KWPN papers do I get them back?
Yes, you should transfer the registered party. It is important that we track the different bloodlines that are competing and breeding all over the world. It is a source of information for our breeders. You will always get the original papers back that you send in for a transfer.
The transfer of registered party will also provide an extra level of security for you and your horse. The papers identify the horse by markings. You will now have documentation (the registration papers with the transfer indicated) that you are the registered party to the horse. In the unfortunate event that your horse becomes lost or stolen, documentation of your horse will be on file to assist your efforts at recovery.

What do I need for a Transfer of Registered Party?
You will need the original KWPN registration certificate and passport (if one has been issued) of the horse in order to transfer the registration. For members of the KWPN the transfer is free of charge. If you are not a member, the new owner will automatically become a member of KWPN.
N.B. If the passport is sent in only to be updated to comply with the rules of DEFRA (UK) the horse can be transferred by paying € 42,40 without the new owner becoming a member. KWPN will make the passport legitimate by stamping and signing it. We will also add the part of Human Consumption if this not already in the passport.

Then click on this link and it gives you more info

I don't think they have updated the English instructions for a while DieselDog. I've done exactly what ESHjess describes.

You DONT need to send the passport any more - that stays safely with you! You just send a covering letter, the registration paper and photos and they send you back an updated registration paper and a sticky label with the owners details & official KWPN stamp to stick in the passport. Its all quite straighforward.

I have two thoroughbreds, one whose passport is in french, the other english. Both horses are micro-chipped but there's no info to say where & when this was done & by which company. What should I do next?

I get worried that if either strayed or was stolen, they would get returned to an old owner who would have no way of contacting me!!

I am having a horse vetted tomorrow that has a polish passport. Is this legal. and do i need to apply for an UK passport straight away. A few quick replies would be appreciated
