Does anyone know approx cost and what would be involved in uprating a 7.5 ton 2004 iveco to maybe an 8 or 9 ton hgv?
I have a full hgv licence so no worries about driving it

Owlie, I haven't bought it yet, if it could be uprated it would add a fortune to the value of the lorry but as it stands the lorry is a very very good price due to the weight of it.

Try and track the chassis old use. If it was a haulage lorry then it might have been drown rated to 7.5 we looked at a 7.5 on a down rate 10ton chassis, lady was offered more than we had for it so didn't get it but it only needed a few things changed for it to be up rated again.

The DVSA (vosa) costs are about £90 for the paper trail and notifiable alteration visit to the test centre. I updated an atego (Merc) from 7.5 to 8.6 and it cost about £2K for updated springs etc but this was done by main dealer so always going to be on the steep side. Be prepared for higher Ved (tax) after uprating!

Thanks motley, very helpful since I think updating it will add significantly more than that to its current value.
Slightly confused, that is interesting will look into it.

You will then be under full EU tacho regs - have you considered that because if you work mon to fri then you can only drive for one day every other weekend

I would have thought that uprating to more than 7.5 might actually decrease the lorry's value? It restricts who can drive it as you MUST have an the extra license, and as ROG says, you have to faff about with the tacho and are restricted re hours.

Rog, yes I have concidered tacho regs, I don't need to drive it more often then that and if I go away in it I stay for a week or more.

Jo, it currently weighs 7 ton unladen so at the moment is totally useless unless uprated and it is priced accordingly but it is a beautiful lorry by a top manufacturer. A hgv version of the lorry would be worth more than the asking price plus a few thousand££ since similar HGV versions are selling for approx £10k more than the asking price of the lorry.
I was just wondering why it's current owners hadn't already uprated it. If it cost £2-3k to uprate it would be a sound investment but £8k plus the hassle wouldn't

Rog, it's super luxury lorry with full living including what looks like a normal oven (not lightweight caravan one) and stalled for 4 so not a small lorry
Weighbridge ticket has it at 7 ton empty
